Samsung Announces Lots of 3D HDTVs for 2011
Even though the 2010 3D HDTV offerings didn’t impress us, we're cautiously optimistic for 2011. Some of the later offerings weren't terrible, and we saw some neat glasses-free 3D at Toshiba's press event. Samsung was nice enough to send us some info on their 2011 HDTV line-up, and all of them support 3D. Like usual, Samsung's line-up breaks down into a few different series, all of which will be available in the first half of 2011.
The LED 8000 series
The 8000 series of LEDs comes in 65”, 60”, 55”, and 46” sizes (UN65D8000, UN60D8000, UN55D8000, and UN46D8000 respectively). This series features a 240Hz display and comes with their fancy new remote with a 3-inch touch screen.
They claim the remote is "like having a second TV in the palm of your hand," which is probably about as cool and useless as it sounds.

Here's a bulleted list of the line's features, for ease of reading:
0.2” wide metal bezel
Full Web browser
3D playback with Bluetooth support for the active shutter glasses
240Hz
Built-in wifi
Skype and Samsung's standard line-up of apps
The LED 7000 Series
Only three sizes in this one: 60", 55", and 46" (UN60D7000, UN55D7000, and UN46D7000). This series is more or less the same as the 8000 Series. We'll update this article once we discern what the differences actually are.

The D6400 Series
This series seems to be more basic than the other ones. You'll get five options for these TVs: 60”, 55”, 46”, 40”, and 32” (UN60D6400, UN55D6400, UN46D6400, UN40D6400, and UN32D6400). They're only 120Hz, don't have the web browser or built-in wifi, and are being marketed as an affordable 3D option. There's no pricing info available yet, though, so we'll just have to take their word for it.
The Plasma D8000 Series
Just three sizes here: 64”, 59”, and 51” (PN64D8000, PN59D8000, and PN51D8000). This is basically just the plasma equivalent of the LED 8000 series. It comes with the fancy remote and all the same features.
1.5 inches in depth
Web browser
3D playback
USB ConnectShare Movie
Built-in Wi-Fi with DLNA support
Skype and Samsung's standard line-up of apps
The Plasma D6500 Series
Just two options for this analog to the LED D6400 series: 59”, and 51” (PN59D6500 and PN51D6500). No touch screen remote, and no special feature set. The only difference is this series does come with built-in wifi.
