Good contrast ratio
Decent motion performance
Awful color issues
Issues with fine details
Introduction
We had to work, really work, to squeeze a good performance out of the Haier HL37XLE2 ($899 MSRP, much cheaper online). Out of the box, this TV is pretty terrible. Calibrating, testing, re-calibrating, re-testing, etc. was the name of the game with this review. Follow our calibration advice and you might not regret your purchase too much. Better still, avoid it entirely.
Editorial Note: This is a review of the Haier HL37XLE2. Test results are for this model, but should indicate the general performance of other sizes in the HLxxXLE2 series. The HLxxXLE2 series includes the following models: HL32LE2, HL37XLE2 and HL42XLE2. Read here for more details on series differences.
