LG 55EM9600 OLED HDTV First Impressions Review

One of the most talked about products here at CES 2012 has been LG's 55-inch OLED TV. The picture quality is stunning and it’s a mere 4mm thick.

Introduction

One of the most talked about products here at CES 2012 has been LG's 55-inch OLED TV. The OLED (organic light emitting diode) technology has been around for a number of years, but limited to small screens for handheld devices, or aspirational purchases like the 11-inch Sony OLED that sold for an outrageous $2,500. LG is the first to crack a living room-sized display. The picture quality is stunning and it's a mere 4mm thick, but with no price announced and a ship date half a year away, it will be a while before we can judge whether this is the ultimate home theater investment or merely showboating technology that would be lost on most consumers.
