We had some hope for the Panasonic TC-L37D2 ($1099 MSRP) when it first arrived. Panasonic is obviously known as the premier plasma TV manufacturer, and we were curious to see what they could do with a mid-level LED-backlit LCD TV. As it turns out, not much.
The TC-L37D2 produced one of the worst color performances we’ve seen in some time. Retesting under multiple calibration points confirmed it. The black level and contrast ratio were also weak, which all added up to a very unimpressive performance.
On the plus side, we loved the included iPod dock. Sure, the interface isn’t as slick as Apple’s, but it made us realize that a feature this handy should be included on more TVs.
