Introduction

The Panasonic Viera TC-P50S30 ($999 MSRP) is a more or less entry-level plasma screen TV with a few unexpected drawbacks, and more or less average all-around performance. It underperforms in many areas, but it’s far from a bad TV, especially if you’re looking for great contrast ratio and internet content on the cheap.

Editorial Note: This is a review of the Panasonic Viera TC-P50S30. Test results are for this model, but should indicate the general performance of other sizes in the TC-PxxS30 series. The TC-PxxS30 series includes the following models: TC-P42S30, TC-P46S30, TC-P50S30 and TC-P60S30. Read here for more details on series differences.
