Introduction Editorial Note: This is a review of the Panasonic TC-P50VT20. Test results are for this model, but should indicate the general performance of other sizes in the TC-PxxVT20 series. The TC-PxxVT20 series includes the following models: (N/A at time of publication. Sorry.)  Read here for more details on series differences. The Panasonic TC-P50VT20 ($2499 MSRP) is the second 3D HDTV to hit the scene, but it's actually showing up with all the necessary gear: it's currently being offered as a bundle with a set of 3D glasses and a 3D-capable Blu-ray player. While this bundle makes the TC-P50VT20 the best option for 3D if you need to have it right this second, we'd think it might be smarter to give the first wave of this technology a pass. The main problem with the TC-P50VT20 is it doesn't have great picture quality and its online features are pretty mediocre. If 3D is an important enough feature to you that these shortcomings don't matter, however, the Panasonic TC-P50VT20 is currently the better of the two available choices.     Page 1 of 18 Tour & Design   Section The Good The Bad Tour & Design Functional design Ugly design Blacks & Whites Deep black level. Poor peak brightness yields a disappointing contrast ratio. Color Accuracy Fairly accurate color temperature and RGB curves. Reds are very oversaturated. Motion Very little motion blur or artifacting issues. Artifacting in 3:2 pulldown mode. Viewing Effects Very wide viewing angle. Might have issues with burn-in. Remote Control Functional remote control A bit gangly, with sharp corners Connectivity Lots of ports make this a great hub for a home theater Unattractively placed Audio & Menus Good audio performance Multiple menus can be confusing to navigate Multimedia & Internet Promising multimedia features As of this publication date, multimedia firmware is crash-prone and internet features are sparse Power Consumption Pretty cheap for a plasma. Still more expensive than an LCD.   Other Models in the TC-PxxVT20 and VT25 Series This is a review of the Panasonic TC-P50VT20.
