Introduction
The Samsung LN40B650 sits in the middle of Samsung's lineup of LCD HDTVs. At 40-inchs it's available for a suggested retail price of $1,699.99, but can be found for a couple hundred dollars less if you shop around. The LN40B650 sports a variety of high-end features, including 120Hz refresh rate, two USB ports, internet connectivity and a full 1080p resolution. Still, $1700 is a lot to pay for a 40-inch HDTV, the question is whether the performance justifies the price. Read the review to find out.

Section The Good The Bad
Tour & Design Clean and simple lines. Some don't like the red finish.
Blacks & Whites Very deep blacks, bright whites and excellent contrast ratio. Greyscale gamma curve too agressive.
Color Accuracy Reds, greens and blues are very accurate. Color gamut shows significant errors with blues.
Motion Limited motion blur. Significant problems with artifacts.
Viewing Effects Not much. Poor viewing angle and very reflective display.
Remote Control Well-balanced and nice backlight. A bit too long.
Audio Not much. Poor audio quality from built-in speakers.
Connectivity Good selection of ports and well-placed. Not much.
Menus & Interface Easy to navigate and attractive menus. The USB manual is a poor substitute for a paper one.
Formats & Media Photo, video and music playback. Limited support for photo and music formats.
Power Consumption Above average power consumption. Not much.
