Connectivity Summary

• Very limited selection of ports
• Only 2 HDMI inputs
• No USB or Media card support

Input Ports (4.25)

The Samsung PN50B430's selection of ports is what we would call sparse, even for an entry-level HDTV. All of the ports are found on the back towards the right side when facing the back. You'll find two HDMI inputs here, along with an associated analog audio input. There are also two component video inputs, one of which also doubles as a composite video inputs. Each of these also has it's associated analog audio input. The only other port on the television is the Antenna port.

Frankly we're a little surprised to find so few connectivity options. It's not uncommon for a television at this price point to only feature two HDMI inputs, but the lack of a VGA input and a dedicated composite video input means your options for connecting devices is limited.

Output Ports (2.0)

As with most HDTVs the Samsung PN50B430 offers two audio out ports, one digital audio out and one analog audio out.

Other Connections (0.0)

The Samsung PN50B430 doesn't offer any additional connecitivy features like Wireless of Bluetooth.

Media (0.0)

The Samsung PN50B430 doesn't include any of the media ports we've seen on higher end Samsung HDTVs like a USB port.

Placement (6.5)

The Samsung PN50B430's ports are reasonably well placed, just around the left side on the back. The swiveling stand makes them a bit easier to access, as long as the television isn't hanging on the wall. Unfortunately the size and weight of the television does counteract this a bit. Frankly given the sparsity of ports and the size of the television we would have much preferred to see all the ports located on one of the edges.
