Introduction
Editorial Note: This is a review of the Samsung UN55C7000. Test results are for this model, but should indicate the general performance of other sizes in the C7000 series. The C7000 series includes the following models: UN40C7000, UN46C7000, UN55C7000. Read here for more details on series differences.

The Samsung UN5C7000 had many issues with its launch. A lot of its big-name online content providers weren't available during the TVs' initial week, and—more eggregiously—neither were the glasses necessary to view its 3D content.

Users picking up the model now, however, will have access to those glasses as well as significantly more online features. Many issues still aren't fixed, even with the most recent barrage of firmware updates. It's unfortunate the TV was plagued with so many launch issues, because otherwise it's a decent TV—it's the first attempt at a new technology, so no one should be expecting perfection.

What the UN55C7000 does well is contrast, color response (despite a slightly wonky color temperature), and motion blur control. Where the TV fails is artifacting and screen uniformity.

Assuming you don't mind waiting a little while longer for the full suite of online features, the UN55C7000 is on sale now for $3299.99.

Section The Good The Bad
Tour & Design Looks amazing. No ports on the side.
Blacks & Whites Decent contrast ratio. Screen has some serious uniformity issues.
Color Accuracy Accurate RGB curves. Color temperature jogs towards warm in darker scenes.
Motion Very little motion blur, great 3:2 pulldown. Artifacting issues.
Viewing Effects Good for an LCD. Compared to a plasma, it's a very narrow viewing angle.
Remote Control Sleek design matches the look of the TV. Perhaps the new design is too unique, as it makes no-look operation difficult.
Connectivity Discreetly placed ports. Fewer ports than you find on boxy TVs of the same price range; lots of proprietary adapters required because of thin frame.
Audio & Menus Decent menus and audio performance. Lots of image performance tweaks crowd the menus, potentially confusing.
Multimedia & Internet Two USB ports, one of which can read hard drives. Very weak selection of content partners for streaming video and music.
Power Consumption Pretty inexpensive upkeep. N/A
