Calibration

Below we’ve listed all the settings we’ve changed in order to calibrate the TV for our testing labs. Most people should be fine if they use our settings, but true cinephiles will want to splurge on hiring a professional to give them a custom calibration. That way the TV will be perfectly calibrated for your own unique viewing space.

Calibration Settings in Picture Mode: Movie
Setting Default Calibrated
Backlight 12 20
Contrast 95 85
Brightness 45 44
Sharpness 20 0
Film Mode Auto 2 Off
Digital Noise Filter Auto Off
MPEG Noise Filter Auto Off
Auto Motion Plus 240Hz Standard Off
Color Space Auto Native

All of our calibration is done in conjunction with the DisplayMate software.

Like nearly all TVs, the Samsung UN55C7000 has a handful of presets that allow you to make easy changes to your picture quality without running to a dictionary to look up the meaning of ‘gamma.’ We recommend putting this TV in the Movie mode, as it produces the most accurate colors. If Movie mode is a little bland for you, try Standard. Really, anything but Dynamic is fine. Dynamic mode is for crazies.

Mode What it Does
Dynamic Selects a high definition picture for bright environments
Standard Selects the optimal picture display for normal environments. This setting is convenient for most situations.
Natural Selects the picture for optimum and eye-comfortable display.
Movie Selects the picture display for dark environments. Select this when the ambient illumination is dim or your eyes are strained.
