Introduction
The Sharp 8K LCD was on display at the CES show floor as a proof of concept product that’s not close to being market ready. Ultra high-definition technology was prevalent throughout CES in 4K form, which is a budding technology itself, but this 85-inch, 8K TV is unique and a pipe dream for customers. It uses “Super Hi-Vision”, which was developed by the Japanese company NHK. Though this technology will be used in the 2012 London Olympics, don’t look for it anytime soon at your local TV retailer. There isn’t a great amount of information surrounding the Sharp 8K LCD, but we’ll take a look at what we saw from it at CES.
