Conclusion
The Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR9 is a seriously good HDTV. We found that it aced most of our tests, producing the best scores we've seen for black level, peak white and the contrast ratio imbetween. It also scored highly in our color tests, and produced smooth, attractive motion without loosing too many of the fine details that make a moving image attractive. And the Internet and networking capabilities of this display are the cherry on the cake; you can watch straming video from YouTube or many other locations, or stream audio and video from a PC that supports the DLNA standard.

But it's an expensive cake. At $2500 for a 52-inch HDTV, the KDL-52XBR9 is an expensive television in a market that looks for value rather than features. This makes it a tough sell, especially when you can pick up a bigger HDTV (such as Vizio's 55-inch models) for several hundred dollars less. But you get what you pay for; the KDL-52XBR9 is a top performer at a top price.
