Conclusion

Toshiba Regza 40XV645U

The Toshiba Regza 40XV645U is a mixed bag. We are very impressed by the deep blacks and wide contrast ratio offered by the television. The connectivity options are pretty standard, with 3 HDMI inputs and a USB port that allows you to view photos. At this price we don't expect to see high-end internet and media features. Unfortunately the television is let down by decidedly mediocre color reproduction and motion performance. That last despite a 120Hz refresh rate that is supposed to help with motion performance.

Unfortuntelly the bad simply outweighs the good with this television. If you can find it for a bit less than $900 it might be a good buy, but if you really care about the picture quality you get from an HDTV we recommend stepping up to the $1,200 price range and picking up something like the Vizio SV470XVT or Samsung LN46A750.
