September 03, 2008Toshiba announces Fall lineup
Toshiba has announced their Fall LCD TV lineup, all of which feature fancy upconverting. Each TV makes use of Toshiba's newest acronym, SRT, or Super Resolution Technology. This will upgrade standard definition to 1080p, meaning your regular TV and non-HD DVDs will look significantly fancier. There were 11 new TVs announced in total, which are categorized into four different product series. The best and brightest series, the Regza Cinema Series XV545 LCDs, will come in 42-inch, 46-inch and 52-inch sizes. The screens will have a refresh rate of 120Hz, which is twice as fast as the current standard. Other neat features include a gaming mode for faster inputs, an AutoView feature that adjusts the picture based on the TV's surroundings, and a dual-layered cabinet to make your TV look like it's an alien with translucent skin.
A notch down from the XV545s, the RV535s are similar, but don't have the 120Hz refresh rate. The RV525 series just has plain old 1080p without any of the bells/whistles of the fancier models, and is only available with 40-inch or 46-inch screens. The AV502 Series is at the bottom of the barrel, with only 720p HD and the smallest set of screen sizes: 26-inch, 31.5-inch and 37-inch.
For more information, most of which is explained by a virtual PR woman named Allison, you can head over to Regza's official site.
