January 07, 2009Vizio Announces Low Cost, Low Power Small HDTV Range
7th Jan 2009 – Vizio has just announced a new range of aggressively priced smaller HDTVs that use less power. The new models are all being sold under the EcoHD label, and exceed the new EnergyStar 3.0 standards by a claimed 25%; Vizio claims that the 19 and 22-inch models use less electricity than a 60-watt light bulb. The new models range from a $249.99 19-inch model up to a $449.99 32-inch model.
At the bottom end of the new range is the VA19OE-W, a 19-inch model that will cost $249.99. The VA220E is a 22-inch model that has the same resolution and inputs as the 19-incher, but which costs $299.99. The VA260E-W is a 26-inch model that costs $399.99, while the new line tops out with the VA320E and VO320E, both 32-inchers that are priced at $449.99. The VA190E-W is available in white, while the other models have black cases.
All of the new models have 2 HDMI inputs and game ports (for connecting analog HD gaming devices such as Xbox 360s), but lack the faster refresh rates and motion processing of their more expensive siblings: the video is displayed at the standard 60Hz refresh rate. They all support video at up to 1080i resolutions, and include TruSurround XT virtual surround sound processing.

Samsung UN32D5500 LED LCD HDTV Review
The D5500 has a rather high MSRP of $699, considering it’s only a 32-inch TV. There are some “premiums upgrades,” a term we use with some dubiousness, knowing that these features can be far less valuable than they appear. Nevertheless, at its core this is a good television. If you can find it a significantly reduced price it would make a great addition to a home theater. Read More...
