The Vizio VF550XVT is Vizio's largest LCD HDTV at 55-inches. It's also part of their high-end XVT lineup of televisions, featuring 120Hz refresh rate, which should improve motion performance. When we looked at one of Vizio's other XVT lineup of televisions, the SV470XVT, we were quite impressed, so we're quite excited to see what the VF550XVT can do.

Section The Good The Bad
Tour & Design An included HDMI cable is a nice plus.
The design will cause... differences of opinion.
Performance: Blacks & Whites Not tunnel contrast or white falloff problems.
The contrast ratio is less than impressive.
Performance: Color Colors were accurate.
Color gamut was a little off.
Performance: Motion We noticed no artifacting problems.
Significant loss of detail in moving faces.
Performance: Viewing Effects Nothing stood out.
A reflective display can cause glare problems.
Remote Control Big easy to press buttons.
Balance is a bit off.
Audio Very good audio quality from built-in speakers.
You still need a separate set of speakers for surround sound.
Connectivity 5 HDMI ports and excellent placement. No USB port or internet connectivity.
Controls & Menus Easy to use, especially at the top level.
Nothing worth mentioning.
Formats & Media Able to handle all forms of HD and SD content.
No music or photo playback.
Power Consumption Not as bad as some Plasma displays.
Pretty high for an LCD due to the size of the display.
